Community of Urbana-Champaign Cooperative Housing

Harvest

Harvest House is on a quiet, tree-lined street in beautiful Urbana and offers a short walk to the U of I campus, cafes, restaurants, and bus stops. Our co-op features shared, home-cooked, healthy vegetarian dinners (vegan friendly) with mostly organic food, environmental awareness, and community.

Our large, three-story house with a finished basement has 14 private, furnished rooms with telephone, cable TV, and both cable and wireless internet. We have 3/4 bathrooms on every floor with a tub on the third floor. Common spaces include a kitchen, pantry, dining room, living room, laundry room, entertainment room, storage closets, and a garage. Other features include a house computer with shared printing, bike rack, high efficiency heating and cooling, free washer and dryer, and attractive wooden floors and trim.

As members, we meet regularly using modified consensus (all but one) to make decisions about our house, such as membership and upkeep. The average room rents for about $300/month, plus an additional $115 for food (all meals) and $60 for utilities and upkeep. The house has two parking spaces for $10/month, otherwise a slightly more expensive city sticker is needed to park overnight on the street. Smoking is not allowed inside the house. We have some pets and consider new pets on a case by case basis.
